2 Way Politics is swarming with wingnuts tonight, and I'm near to vomiting. The basic wingnut argument runs roughly as follows, "Republicans and Bush can do no wrong. And if they do, I don't care."
Combine that with the amount of lies they spew, and you can understand why some people are fooled so often. We've reached a point where a political solution is receding into the distance in Iraq. Saddam, of course, had no WMDs. But Vic is trying to trot out "new" tapes (from 1995) with Saddam plotting about WMDs. A compelling argument for invasion, perhaps, in 1995. I would have enjoyed hearing Vic make that argument. Of course, Republicans at the time felt that we had no national interest in ending genocide in Eastern Europe, and predicted carnage and failure. Ah, for the time of clear-headed, cold-hearted Republicans. Were we ever so young?
I especially am enjoying the contortions wingnuts like Vic and drclean are doing to justify this UAE port deal. Vic, the mighty counterterrorism warrior, who would be over in Iraq except sitting in the basement in stained underwear drinking beer is not a combat skill, is now trying to assuage our doubts about letting a nation with direct ties to Al Qaida and Bin Laden run our vulnerable ports. Let me get this straight: Saddam had ties to terrorism, so invade him; UAE has ties to terrorism, buy them a cookie. Makes perfect sense.
