1. No Vic, Bush did not take the lead on Homeland Security. Lieberman, of all people, proposed a bill creating the DHS, and:
"Bush initially resisted the idea of a new department, which had been championed primarily by Democrats in the wake of the attacks. But Bush embraced the concept in June and used the issue effectively on the campaign trail this past fall, criticizing Democrats who differed with him over the issue of labor rights within the new department."
Sorry, Vic, Bush turned around when the polling turned against him, and smeared opponents on a nonissue instead of focusing on national security.
2. Alito's wife left crying when her husband was being questioned by a Republican and, let's be realistic here, a Supreme Court nomination requires that tough questions be asked. Any conservative who tries to make political hay because Democrats asked probing questions of a potential life-appointee is just a craven little bitch...guess I answered my own question, huh?
