Two weeks before the November elections, which shifted control of Congress from the Republicans to the Democrats, Bush asserted that "absolutely, we're winning" in Iraq.

Update - Tuesday, 19 Dec 2006 - for the first time, the Smirking Coward said that American forces were not winning in Iraq. He also said the military would be expanded to fight a long-term battle against terrorism.

Flip-Flop? You bet your body armor!

Does Dim Son really think the situation in Iraq has worsened so much in the past 60 days that it changed the character of the war 180 degrees from "absolutely winning" to "we're not winning?" Or could it possibly be that his failed policies have never worked in Iraq? Has Bush been putting lipstick on his Iraq pig all along?

The Chimp goes on to say on 19 Dec that he plans to increase troop strength for a "long-term" war. Did the dummy-in-chief not get the hint in November?

Bush feels the need to tell the American people what he thinks they want to hear. But were Dim Bulb's comments "the truth?" No! NOT the truth. The Chimp-in-Chief's comments were meant to placate the doubting public - the 71% of Americans opposed to the Iraq War - a coming out, of sorts - with what the vast majority of Americans already know, or at least sense - that we aren't winning in Iraq, and we haven't been since MISSION ACCOMPLISHED days. Nothing has changed, and what's worse - Bush has no plans to bring this disaster to a close - against even the good counsel of the Iraq Study Group. This latest flurry of activity by the Pentagon and the White House to portray Bush as a catalyst for change is the same old horse and pony show this administration has played on the national stage since 9/11. The American people are screaming "NO MORE LIPSTICK MR. BUSH!" All the while, Bush cozies up to the Avon lady - and Laura isn't on Avon's payroll.

How many more hundreds of thousands of Iraqi men, women and children does Bush plan to murder? How many more cargo aircraft laden with dead GIs does George the Lesser plan to bring home so that Halliburton and the Carlyle Group can profit billion$?

For the first time in his miserable, cowardly life - George Bush told the truth - we aren't winning in Iraq. So what does he do about it? More lipstick. What a fool that man is.

We aren't winning in Iraq because our military doesn't have the will to do so. The military isn't a machine - it's comprised of individuals - and when the individuals lose faith - when the individuals no longer know what their goals are - when the individuals believe they are being sacrificed for the financial gain of a few very wealthy corporations and individual - they lose the will to fight and win. 3000 dead. For the vast vast majority of Americans - that's like everyone you went to high school with being killed. 650,000 - 700,000 dead Iraqi civilians - that's equivalent to murdering every citizen in cities like Baltimore, Austin, Charlotte, Seattle, Boston, or Milwaukee - in fact, greater than all but 15 of our largest cities.

There are so many AWOLS and desertions at this juncture - the services don't have the legal staff to process them, and are having to resort to contracting civilian attorneys to take up the slack. The Army has waived and eliminated quality factors for enlistees - no more requirements for high school diplomas, lower scores accepted on entrance exams, criminal records OK, and lots and lots of "bonus money." With those kinds of standards, it's no wonder crime is up on military installations and standards of behavior are deteriorating and moral is lower than in Vietnam - the military is resorting to desperate measures to maintain it's population of sitting ducks. Of course, when you have a commander-in-chief who AWOLed the Texas Air National Guard, you can't expect much in the way of standards and leadership by example.

Alas! It's high time chimp-boy speak the truth about "winning" in Iraq. 700,000 dead people too late, but he managed to eek it out. I suppose he expects our warm and heartfelt "thanks." But he blamed the failures in Iraq on AMERICAN FORCES and not PNAC/NEONUT/BUSH POLICIES!!! Now THAT will go a long way to encourage the troops to do better! Boy, he sure knows how to pass accountability and responsibility to his subordinates! What a leader! But I don't hear anyone heaping praise upon the troops for the massive profits their sacrifices bring to Bush's corporate whores - Bush claims that for himself - Bush measures his success in how much profit he can bring to his cronies - not on the battlefields of Iraq and Afghanistan. Bush wants to broaden the war in Iraq because it broadens the bank accounts of his "base."

On a more "personal" note - with the same disdain George Bush has toward the lives of our troops and the suffering of their families, I hold toward his beloved Mrs. Chimp - skin cancer can't spread fast enough for me.

You worthless, cock sucking, shit drizzling, monkey fucking, ass sucking, piece of chicken shit...You make our military look like a bunch of treasonous cowards everytime you open those two pussy lips you call a mouth...

If this military has lost any will its due to the lack of support that they get from you liberal sacks of shit. We will win this war, inspite of terrorist sympathy rags like yourself that seem to be more worried about the number of poor innocent iraqis than the numbers of innocent Americans that have and will continue to lose their lives to global terrorism. I hope you choke on the next cock you deep throat you sorry piece of shit.

Ditto what Jay said. YOU are amazingly disgusting as of late ! Now your wishing "death" on people...Mrs. Bush ? You have a real knack for going "after families" don't you? I actually am starting to think, even Dumbella , is not as low as you. You are one hateful fuck. She is just dingy, and doesn't know better. YOU DO. She doesn't attack the majority of the troops themselves. She had a bit of a misunderstanding over the recruiter, but like I said, dingy. YOU are a fucking asshole. Let me see Laura Bush married GW so she should die, according to you? I didn't know Laura was voted in by the Americans? Your beef is out of order! Your as bright as fact....why not send that ass after the so called's what he does best! IF they really wanted the AWOLS, they would get them. YOU should know ! That's what bugs you, it's up your alley and not a fucking thing you can do about it.

Fuck you Jay and the anonymous fucktard! Get your asses over there to sign up! I can't wait for a draft so that all those fuckers can have their kids over there to die like the rest of us so called "liberals". Liberals are ok to die in war, but, when they voice their opinions they are considered sacks of shit. The sacks of shits are those bastards that put this country in this position. It was a fucking invasion you retarded bastard, not a war. The global terrorism is manufactured in the good ole USA. Jay it seems to me you have sucked so much cock you lil faggot that you can't stop worshipping twinkle toes and his gay sidekick Rove to wake up and take the cock out of your mouth. The military hasn't lost because of lack of support, they have lost because they did not listen to those that knew the consequences of invading Iraq. They did not prepare or take advice of those that had already been in the region. Why don't you people understand that Bush has taken Iraq so that he can place it in the hands of Saudi Arabia. This was planned and our troops are the sacrificial lambs. (sitting ducks) Billions of dollars, thousands of troops dead and maimed, full support of Congress, and you say no support? Just go and fuck yourself you boot licker. Karma is a bitch, I hope much if it comes back to Bush. First his wife, and now his daughters should sign up and get their asses to Iraq. Laura is a murderer, so she shall die as she has lived, a murderer. Thou shalt not kill, she killed and dummy killed thousands more. They have reaped what they have sown. They are traitors. The only way to stop this Adolf is to impeach. He is a criminal and he shall pay.

Gotta love cowards like jay156 - sounds all big and tough, but his actions just don't match his rhetoric.

The military doesn't need your support, jay. Cowards like you have very little, if anything, to offer the military. What the troops need is a very focused and detailed mission, which Smirking Coward has failed to provide.

"WE" will win this war, jay? "WE?" Who is "WE" - you aren't doing shit, unless, of course, you consider being a pussy cheerleader defending the nation. Jay - you're a coward - and that's lower than a child molester in my book.

You don't deserve to be called an American, Jay - you'd let the enemy drive a pylon up your ass before you'd put on a uniform and defend your country - you coward-ass little bitch. You aren't one of us, dirtbag - don't try to slither your way into our company.

"Continue to lose their lives," indeed - you fucking craven sack-o-shit - I'll bet you thank your lucky stars you aren't one of those who "will continue to lose their lives" you sorry coward-ass!

And Jay, where did daddy send you to finishing school? You seem to know a lot about sucking dicks, deep throating, and conjugal relations with other species. Or where you home schooled? Either way, I'll bet you're just a pro, huh, Jay?

Goddamn coward. And Jay - you didn't refute my argument in the post - Smirking Coward is a flip-flopper.

Well aren'y YOU just the little liar and hypocrit, creep.

"The Army has waived and eliminated quality factors for enlistees - no more requirements for high school diplomas, lower scores accepted on entrance exams, criminal records OK, and lots and lots of "bonus money." HOGWASH

You don't feel that military personnel should be paid an equivalent income to those in civilian jobs or rewarded with educational benefits for service to their country, which is something that has historically been offered to American veterans? You think it's WRONG to pay bonuses for men and women willing to put their lives on the line for the rest of us? I bet you scream the loudest about how poorly the government and American people in general treat our military, but you're bitching because they're paying enlistment bonuses? WHY is that?

The TRUTH is "The Army now offers home school graduates WHO QUALIFY, the same enlistment incentives as traditional high school graduates..." which is a FAR cry from what you said, liar. In fact, there are those who argue that home schooling is superior to both public and private schools. I detest creeps like you who intentionally twist the truth to suit their own agenda.

"You don't feel that military personnel should be paid an equivalent income to those in civilian jobs or rewarded with educational benefits for service to their country, which is something that has historically been offered to American veterans?"

You couldn't be more off-channel. I have a Master's degree courtesy of the Air Force Tuition Assistance Program - every member of the Air Force is eligible for it by virtue of serving - and it's a great program - it pays 100% tuition costs.

The Air Force is the only service with a fully, regionally accredited degree granting institution - Community College of the Air Force (CCAF) - every enlisted member can earn an Associate of Applied Science Degree in 1 (or more) of 83 Air Force Specialty technical fields.

Every member of the Air Force is provided the opportunity to earn 1 professional certification up to $9,000, i.e., MSCE.

Additionally, the Air Force pays for testing of all sorts...CLEP, SAT, GRE, DANTES, and a gazillion certification examinations.

I am a tremendous supporter of these programs, and I encourage my troops to take full advantage of ALL educational benefits the service has to offer, to include the Montgomery GI Bill.

I am not opposed to bonuses. What I am opposed to is recruiters running down to the 'hood waiving $30,000 in the faces of 17 year-old kids who've lived in poverty all their lives and convincing them going to Iraq is their best chance at success in life.

People like jay156 need poor boys and girls to stay in poverty so HE won't have to face the "is my life worth $30,000" dilemma. Smirking Coward could have spent the billions and billions he handed to Halliburton on educating these kids, and perhaps they would be in the same position as jay156, that coward ass fucker, and say "screw the military and the $30,000 - my life isn't worth throwing away on a $30,000 suck-me-in payment"

Ask yourself anonynut - is your life worth $30,000? Is your life worth the POSSIBILITY of getting an education? If enlistment bonuses were such a great thing, I'm sure greedy little bastards like jay156, bruty-boy logic, and virginia1776 would haul their fat, coward-asses down to the MEPS.

You're goddamn right our veterans deserve education benefits - and health care benefits - and entitlement pay. Bush, that AWOL scumbag, cut HFP and FSP for GIs deployed to Iraq and Afghanistan - cut $280/month from their pay checks. You want to know who doesn't want the GIs to get benefits - ask your goddamn pig-in-a-poke president.

And to the anonynut quoting re-enlistment numbers - get a clue fool! The services are losing mid-career NCOs and CGOs faster than jay156 can suck a donkey dick. Now you go figure, bright boy, or whatever you are, what impact that just might have on manning, promotions, and operations. You might discover that 70% figure isn't as rosy as you think it is.

At any time in history for those who enlist, the possibility of war or being sent into harm's way is REALITY. Why in GOD'S NAME do you THINK our military exists? I think it's great that enlistment bonuses are being offered (and it's up to $40,000, jerkoff, not $30,000 - that's how much you know) along with tuition incentives for those who CHOOSE to better themselves and take advantage of the benefits. You act as if our military enlisted personnel is only recruited from the ghetto, and that said, if it WERE true, it's plain that you'd rather see these kids stay in the ghetto with absolutely NO hope for the future. You're disgusting.

Furthermore, you CANNOT argue that men and women ARE choosing to re-up in large numbers. You're a stinking joke.

This is what vets can expect from their government, what a great future indeed!

Homeless Iraq vets showing up at shelters

By Mark Benjamin

Washington, DC, Dec. 7 (UPI) -- U.S. veterans from the war in Iraq are beginning to show up at homeless shelters around the country, and advocates fear they are the leading edge of a new generation of homeless vets not seen since the Vietnam era.

"When we already have people from Iraq on the streets, my God," said Linda Boone, executive director of the National Coalition for Homeless Veterans. "I have talked to enough (shelters) to know we are getting them. It is happening and this nation is not prepared for that."

"I drove off in my truck. I packed my stuff. I lived out of my truck for a while," Seabees Petty Officer Luis Arellano, 34, said in a telephone interview from a homeless shelter near March Air Force Base in California run by U.S.VETS, the largest organization in the country dedicated to helping homeless veterans.

Arellano said he lived out of his truck on and off for three months after returning from Iraq in September 2003. "One day you have a home and the next day you are on the streets," he said.

In Iraq, shrapnel nearly severed his left thumb. He still has trouble moving it and shrapnel "still comes out once in a while," Arellano said. He is left handed.

Arellano said he felt pushed out of the military too quickly after getting back from Iraq without medical attention he needed for his hand -- and as he would later learn, his mind.

"It was more of a rush. They put us in a warehouse for a while. They treated us like cattle," Arellano said about how the military treated him on his return to the United States.

"It is all about numbers. Instead of getting quality care, they were trying to get everybody demobilized during a certain time frame. If you had a problem, they said, 'Let the (Department of Veterans Affairs) take care of it.'"

The Pentagon has acknowledged some early problems and delays in treating soldiers returning from Iraq but says the situation has been fixed.

A gunner's mate for 16 years, Arellano said he adjusted after serving in the first Gulf War. But after returning from Iraq, depression drove him to leave his job at the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission. He got divorced.

He said that after being quickly pushed out of the military, he could not get help from the VA because of long delays.

"I felt, as well as others (that the military said) 'We can't take care of you on active duty.' We had to sign an agreement that we would follow up with the VA," said Arellano.

"When we got there, the VA was totally full. They said, 'We'll call you.' But I developed depression."

He left his job and wandered for three months, sometimes living in his truck.

Nearly 300,000 veterans are homeless on any given night, and almost half served during the Vietnam era, according to the Homeless Veterans coalition, a consortium of community-based homeless-veteran service providers. While some experts have questioned the degree to which mental trauma from combat causes homelessness, a large number of veterans live with the long-term effects of post-traumatic stress disorder and substance abuse, according to the coalition.

Some homeless-veteran advocates fear that similar combat experiences in Vietnam and Iraq mean that these first few homeless veterans from Iraq are the crest of a wave.

"This is what happened with the Vietnam vets. I went to Vietnam," said John Keaveney, chief operating officer of New Directions, a shelter and drug-and-alcohol treatment program for veterans in Los Angeles. That city has an estimated 27,000 homeless veterans, the largest such population in the nation. "It is like watching history being repeated," Keaveney said.

Data from the Department of Veterans Affairs shows that as of last July, nearly 28,000 veterans from Iraq sought health care from the VA. One out of every five was diagnosed with a mental disorder, according to the VA. An Army study in the New England Journal of Medicine in July showed that 17 percent of service members returning from Iraq met screening criteria for major depression, generalized anxiety disorder or PTSD.

Asked whether he might have PTSD, Arrellano, the Seabees petty officer who lived out of his truck, said: "I think I do, because I get nightmares. I still remember one of the guys who was killed." He said he gets $100 a month from the government for the wound to his hand.

Lance Cpl. James Claybon Brown Jr., 23, is staying at a shelter run by U.S.VETS in Los Angeles. He fought in Iraq for 6 months with Alpha Company, 1st Battalion, 2nd Marines and later in Afghanistan with another unit. He said the fighting in Iraq was sometimes intense.

"We were pretty much all over the place," Brown said. "It was really heavy gunfire, supported by mortar and tanks, the whole nine (yards)."

Brown acknowledged the mental stress of war, particularly after Marines inadvertently killed civilians at road blocks. He thinks his belief in God helped him come home with a sound mind.

"We had a few situations where, I guess, people were trying to get out of the country. They would come right at us and they would not stop," Brown said. "We had to open fire on them. It was really tough. A lot of soldiers, like me, had trouble with that."

"That was the hardest part," Brown said. "Not only were there men, but there were women and children -- really little children. There would be babies with arms blown off. It was something hard to live with."

Brown said he got an honorable discharge with a good conduct medal from the Marines in July and went home to Dayton, Ohio. But he soon drifted west to California "pretty much to start over," he said.

Brown said his experience with the VA was positive, but he has struggled to find work and is staying with U.S.VETS to save money. He said he might go back to school.

Advocates said seeing homeless veterans from Iraq should cause alarm. Around one-fourth of all homeless Americans are veterans, and more than 75 percent of them have some sort of mental or substance abuse problem, often PTSD, according to the Homeless Veterans coalition.

More troubling, experts said, is that mental problems are emerging as a major casualty cluster, particularly from the war in Iraq where the enemy is basically everywhere and blends in with the civilian population, and death can come from any direction at any time.

Interviews and visits to homeless shelters around the Unites States show the number of homeless veterans from Iraq or Afghanistan so far is limited. Of the last 7,500 homeless veterans served by the VA, 50 had served in Iraq. Keaveney, from New Directions in West Los Angeles, said he is treating two homeless veterans from the Army's elite Ranger battalion at his location. U.S.VETS, the largest organization in the country dedicated to helping homeless veterans, found nine veterans from Iraq or Afghanistan in a quick survey of nine shelters. Others, like the Maryland Center for Veterans Education and Training in Baltimore, said they do not currently have any veterans from Iraq or Afghanistan in their 170 beds set aside for emergency or transitional housing.

Peter Dougherty, director of Homeless Veterans Programs at the VA, said services for veterans at risk of becoming homeless have improved exponentially since the Vietnam era. Over the past 30 years, the VA has expanded from 170 hospitals, adding 850 clinics and 206 veteran centers with an increasing emphasis on mental health. The VA also supports around 300 homeless veteran centers like the ones run by U.S.VETS, a partially non-profit organization.

"You probably have close to 10 times the access points for service than you did 30 years ago," Dougherty said. "We may be catching a lot of these folks who are coming back with mental illness or substance abuse" before they become homeless in the first place. Dougherty said the VA serves around 100,000 homeless veterans each year.

But Boone's group says that nearly 500,000 veterans are homeless at some point in any given year, so the VA is only serving 20 percent of them.

Roslyn Hannibal-Booker, director of development at the Maryland veterans center in Baltimore, said her organization has begun to get inquiries from veterans from Iraq and their worried families. "We are preparing for Iraq," Hannibal-Booker said.

Tell us how you respect the troops and care about them. I bet you cowards will call them lazy bums and that is why they are homeless. Let's see what your compassion is for the people that the USA chews up and spits out.

No Jay, you coward-ass - you aren't privileged to refer to the military as "we." You say it because it makes you feel good, but it does nothing to conceal the fact that you're a low-life coward. You don't get to claim "we" because your family is in the military - you coward-ass. You say "we" like someone says "we" won the football game. You don't do shit for your country except cheerlead - and cheerleading hasn't saved a single life. In fact, if your kind of cheerleading was worth a tinker's damn, we'd be winning in Iraq and ready to come home.

What little pukes like you fail to see is that it's not the military that has lost Iraq - it's that homunculus President and his inept policies that lost Iraq.

And little colostomy bags like you, jay, sit back and point toward Iraq and say "you, go there and protect me from those big-bad-terrorists, so I can enjoy my "businessman lifestyle." In Jay's world, America is worth someone else's life, but not worth his own. Like I've said before, Jay would see America crumble to the ground before he'd lift a leg to prevent it. He's a coward. What kind of business you in Jay - body-bag peddling at the Pentagon?

I'm in the military and I'm held accountable for BILLION$ worth of equipment, hundreds of troops, and a mission. What I do impacts the lives of GIs and the security of our nation, every day - nothing you'd understand; so the way you deal with your ignorance is to try convince others I'm not in the military. It doesn't work coward-boy. Stop hiding behind your family - YOU claim America is in dire danger...YOU do something about it, coward-ass and stop dumping your responsibility to protect your freedom on other people. You simply aren't worth the sacrifice, coward-ass.

1 - Nobody said all of the military comes from the ghetto, but it is hard to ignore the fact that 45% of Army recruits over the past 2 years have come from families earning less than $10,000 annually!

2 - I don't care if it's $30,000 or $40,000 - my question is why didn't you take advantage of all that "big bucks?" Your problem is the same problem jay-the-coward-ass has - you patronize the military because it makes you feel patriotic and makes you feel like your making some substantive contribution to the war effort. The fact is the military is taking advantage of a situation - Bush needs cannon fodder, and the only way to get it is NOT to hang out at $40,000/year private schools for white rich kids, but to slink about the ghetto and hand around malls where white kids don't hang out. The fact of the matter is, when our government needs bodies - especially expendible ones - they look to poor blacks and hispanics, and $40,000 looks pretty good to a kid who's never seen more than $20 at any given time. You aren't privy to MEPS information; I am. You should get a good look at how many recruits are rejected and why.

3 - And you stupid-shit, had Bush spent the $1 trillion on cleaning up our inner cities rather than bringing democracy to Iraq, we might not have "war zones." Secondly you stupid fuck, if you're trying to make the point that living in the ghetto is just as dangerous as being in Iraq - you have no inking of what your talking about.

4 - Take a look at Army demographics vs. Air Force demographics - see how much education the Army promotes compared to the Air Force. Compare Marine Corps demographics to the Air Force - you'll see that the Army nor the Marine Corps really wants a "well educated" enlisted corps! In 1972 when the Community College of the Air Force was established, the other services had the opportunity to participate in the program and make it the Community College of the Armed Forces - but the Navy, the Army, and the Marines said NO! We don't need our enlistees with degrees. In other words - they don't want them to put too much thought into what they do - they just might decide it isn't worth the sacrifice. There's a major difference between the services in how they view and promote education.

You see, bright boy, it has to do with mission. Mission is what determines how valuable education is - each service decides what is in the interest of that service - and all services do what is their own best interest. The Army and Marine Corps STILL do not require officers to have a BA/BS or higher degree as a prerequisite for commissioning. Why? - because it's not important to their respective missions. The Air Force has always required it. WHY? - because it's in the best interest of the Air Force.

My point is - the Army isn't offering bonuses in the best interest of the recruits - it's offering them in the best interest of the Army. The Army could care less if that bonus is actually awarded.

And anonynut - what do you think these recruits do with that $40,000 check (minus taxes) they get? Go to school? If that were the case, Army demographics would show a rise in education levels - and those numbers just aren't there. Where do you think these 18 year old kids are spending their "bonus" - that is if the live long enough to spend it. You see anonynut, you don't have any idea because you don't have access to the information I do. Nothing classified, but it's not public information. Stop arguing what you hear from TV and what sounds good to make yourself appear patriotic. Bonuses are good for the Army, and increasingly not good for recruits.

Anonynut -

Once again, you lie! But that's to be expected of the likes of you.

The comments aren't deleted, oh silly one; I can make them visible again if I so choose, just like I did with this one!

No need to lie about it. Like I've said before, when the anonynut comments begin to bore me or when they no longer serve a purpose, I simply remove them from view - I don't delete them. Liar!
