THOSE DAMN PAGANS AT IT AGAIN

I think most know that back in May, Bay Buchanan (conservative talk show guest and pundit, and sister of former conservative Presidential aspirant Patrick Buchanan) had an interesting take on the Gulf Coast disasters of last year, you know the neo-nut take, tired of hearing about it.

I agree with Bay, I am also tired of hearing about it, I am sick of hearing how the federal government failed to appropriate the money needed to shore up the levee system, and how what money was appropriated to New Orleans in particular was wasted to such a large degree by the state of Louisiana and city of New Orleans, that the end result was not only the failure of the levees, but the simultaneous failure of the pumps that could have otherwise pumped the water out of the New Orleans flooded areas realitively quickly.

I am sick of hearing about how Bush and his Administration denied the scope of the disaster in public, while every day the mainstream media conveyed images of the horror and disasters.

I'm sick of hearing Republican apologists constantly defend the incompetence of the Bush Administration. I am sick of hearing so many people engage in blaming the victims for not getting out of the area, even though many of them had no place to go, and no way to leave if they had a place. I am sick of hearing them being accused of purposely staying behind for purposes of looting, or out of hopes of filing lawsuits. I am sick with the knowledge, that, in reality, most of them had no way out.

I'm sick of hearing of how Bush and other politicians have promised New Orleans will be rebuilt, yet the reality seems to be no money is being made available for this effort, I am sick of so much it is hard to keep track of all of it. But the thing I am most sick of, Bay Buchanan, is people like yourself.

People who have a listening audience and say things such as "It's those pagans we need to watch out for", yes, that is what Bay said that today on Situation Room on CNN. the topic was about that ever so bias US Rep. Virgil Goode Jr., R-Va saying "The Muslim representative from Minnesota was elected by the voters of that district, and if American citizens don't wake up and adopt the Virgil Goode position on immigration there will likely be many more Muslims elected to office and demanding the use of the Koran."

Notice the age old trick of neo-nuts, one of their own spews BS and instead of the neo-nuts demanding Virgil Goode to apologize or denouncing what Virgil Goode said they instead try coyly to redirect. With Bay Buchanan's insult geared towards all pagans with her stand offish comment, it shows how the neo-nuts really think. Neo-nuts do in fact believe in prejudicious actions and allows it's use, when it serves their needs.

There are those of the Pagan faith that have died serving their country, yet they still are treated as jokes, as people that don't matter. Goode's remark was not anymore outrageous than Bay's but I bet there will be no media coverage of Bay's insult to those of the pagan faith, there will be no group demanding accountability for Bay's words. A prejudice action has the same destructive powers no matter what bias was/is used.

Yet, I would wager that most would not see the revilement attitude presented in Bay's statement "It's those pagans we need to watch out for". People will say Bay was joking and since she is a neo-nut it is ok for her to joke unlike Kerry.

Many will say (liberals and conservatives alike)what Goode said was much worst than Bay's remark about pagans, I strongly disagree. What Goode said was an attack against Islam, a religion, faith, belief, what Bay said was an attack against Paganism, a religion, faith, belief. What Goode said portrays hate borne out of fear, what Bay said portrays hatred born from ignorance.

After thousands of years on this planet you would think that humans would grow the hell up and quit attacking others due to fears, when will people see that it the long run it really doesn't matter what your religious beliefs are or what color you skin is. Reality is, we are all the same, we all bled if cut, feel pain if hurt, experience love if lucky, and we all are capable of growing into mature adults. Unfortunate not so many care to grow into mature adults as one can see from the lowest to the highest of the land(s).

In today's time I find it even more important than ever to cry out against hate in any form. It seems that with 9-11 and Bush admin, the witch hunts and communists scare is back and in a big way. Now-a-days its ok to say you 'distrust' a person just because they are of the Islamic faith, hell some would even say it is understandable for one to say they hate. Since when has hate been productive, when did it become ok to replace blame instead of being held accountable? When did it become ok to preach hate and fear, oh wait now I remember when. It happened when Bush & his cronies came into power and people like Goode and Bay were proclaimed 'Great Americans'.

So now you know there is nothing to fear from people of the Islamic faith, Bay Buchanan told us it is 'Those pagans we need to watch out for'. So happy Bay cleared that all up for us, I guess that only leaves one unanswered question, when is the war against Pagans to start?

Now for some very (cough, cough) wise comments from well-known neo-nuts, and paltalkians thought they had the corner market on flip-flopping

RUMSFELD: It Would Be A Short War "Five days or five weeks or five months, but it certainly isn't going to last any longer than that" "Freedom's untidy, and free people are free to make mistakes and commit crimes and do bad things." –Defense Secretary Donald Rumsfeld on looting in Iraq after the U.S. invasion, adding "stuff happens," April 11, 2003 BUSH: days before the November elections, declared, "Absolutely, we're winning." Dec 19th "We're not winning, we're not losing," Bush said in an interview with The Washington Post. BUSH: "Oh, no, we're not going to have any casualties." —discussing the Iraq war with Christian Coalition founder Pat Robertson, as quoted by Robertson. BUSH: "F**k Saddam, we're taking him out." –President Bush to three U.S. Senators in March 2002, a full year before the Iraq invasion DICK CHENEY: "I think they're in the last throes, if you will, of the insurgency." June 20, 2005.

Thanks, Muse for not forgetting us and our fallen. Our soldiers serving in Iraq right now are often denegrated by their own units. There have been documented cases of attacks on the pagan groups by christian soldiers. Some of those attacks could have had fatal results, such as throwing full soda cans at them during their fellowship/religious rites.

Here they are fighting alongside those that would kill them just for being of a different faith and not one those christian soldiers had the nerve to even ask about our beliefs so they could understand. If only they knew the harmony we have found on our paths.

I, as a pagan, thank you for remembering us on one of our most blessed sabbats.

Blessed solstice to you and yours. May your God(s) bring you harmony of heart, mind, body and spirit and joy throughout the next year.

I've never understood why Democrats think everyone else has the market cornered on racism and they're perfect. First of all muse, your timeline was wrong when you said: "When did it become ok to preach hate and fear, oh wait now I remember when. It happened when Bush & his cronies came into power and people like Goode and Bay were proclaimed 'Great Americans'."

Here's a much earlier example of hate:
"In the name of the greatest people that have ever trod this earth, I draw a line in the dust and toss the gauntlet before the feet of tyranny, and I say: segregation now, segregation tomorrow, and segregation forever. I'll never be outniggered again." - George Wallace (Democrat) 1962
Now that's MUCH earlier and MUCH more racist, but muse would have you believe that George Bush started racism.

tsk tsk muse

btw I forgot to address Nagin. There's a small town in North Carolina that was founded by slaves after they gained their freedom. When hurricane Floyd dumped an enormous amount of rain on them a few years back, they took it upon themselves to sandbag the Tar river. NO GOVERNMENT HELP!!! WOW!!! When they saw that sandbagging wasn't working the mayor called for an evacuation and the townspeople left with NO GOVERNMENT HELP.
Did they blame the current President? (Clinton) Of course not. Why? Because they knew how to take responsibility and not depend on anyone but themselves.
One day when I have time, I'll explain the concept of personal responsibility to you libbyz.

And Anony how did it feel to have to go back to pre civil right Act of '64' for your witty comeback of George Wallace (Democrat) 1962

BTW Anony when did religious bias become racist, I thought that racism dealt with racial issues not religious one, oh what can I expect from someone that claims I am a democrat.

Oh that's right ... You're in total denial about that one.

anony, again I ask you when did hated-filled bias attitudes become racist? Please share this info, I am sure many would love to know when all bias attitudes became a racist attitude only.

Now with that being said, let's take a look at racist remarks by republicans:

1971, Richard Nixon to Rumsfeld, The second point is that coming out--coming back and saying
that black Americans aren't as good as black Africans--most
of them , basically, are just out of the trees. Now, let's
face it, they are.

1980, Ronald Reagan opens his campaign in Philadelphia, Miss., and creates a furor when he uses the code words states’ rights to appeal to white conservatives.

2002, Trent Lott comment that the United States would have avoided "all these problems" if then-segregationist Strom Thurmond had been elected president in 1948.

Now I hope I have been helful, if you need more I'm sure it won't be a problem. But then I'm just a dizzy little female, so what would I possibly know?

Jay, you really need to get an education outside Faux News (btw did ya'all hear that Faux News lost 17% of their viewers in '06' and that CNN won all the media awards?).

Only 15 pagans in the world huh Jay and what was you said? Ah yes you said Im going to go with 1.344 pagans in Iraq
Well Jay you are lucky I am in the sharing type of mood tonight so here let me educate you:

Exact numbers of military Pagans is nearly impossible to determine, since so many Pagans keep their faith a secret. But at least one organization--the Military Pagan Network (MPN)--has been attempting to identify the number of Pagans in uniform, even if only through estimation. In their 2002 Annual Report, MPN estimates over 1,000 active duty Pagans in the Air Force alone, based on the Air Force's own documentation of a number of Pagan groups.
In a press release issued in response to Barr, MPN described Wicca as "a religion practiced by over 100,000 military personnel or dependants."

Now Jay before you go off saying some really stupid thing you will regret these numbers are gathered from the respective military offices ie: Air Force, Navy, Marine and Army.

Sadly, I got to tell you, your guess of 1.344 was awee bit off, but good try.

Anony, you are right I do in fact enjoy hostory with that being said let me continue.

The Civil Rights Act was signed in 1964, but the ball really got rolling in 1952 with the Brown Decision
In the 50's Republican were complaining that "Today Democrats are obstructing all but the most liberal court nominees to a Judiciary" Supreme Court Justice William Douglas. (I'm sure you know he was republican)

Just because a bill gets signed in doesn't mean the president, congress or senete at that time truly agree with the bill, most bills if not all started very small and took many years to get signed.

It isnt fair to history to say so and so signed in a certain bill and ignore how that bill even came up.

Now as far as your remark about percentage of Dems and Reps that voted for the Civil Rights Act, you must dig deeper and get the reasons why certain party voted a certain way.

Honestly I will look into your numbers and see if I can find he reasons behind the votes. But ATM I will say I believe that it was more a south-north thing in the 60's then a party issue. I do know that the Southern Senators began an 83 day filibuster, the longest in Senate history, on the bill. Calling their filibuster an "educational campaign," the Southern Senators hoped to persuade wavering senators, particulary Republican and conservative Senators from the Great Plains and Mountain west states, of the justice of their cause. Thus, the southern democratic opposition to the bill relied almost entirely on their hopes that western senators would refuse to support cloture.
This is why I truly do believe it wasnt so much a Rep vs Dems as it was the South vs the North. But I honestly will research this a but more and thank you for bringing up this point :o)

KNow that I am not a dem or rep and I have been known to vote either way. I truly am enjoying debating this issue with you and I do hope that we can continue this debate. And, no I am not being facetious. :o)

Pagans in the military? You bet! Back in 1999 Bob Barr came across a huge coven at Fort Hood TX and decided to write and attempt to pass a bill to ban all Pagans from the military. See http://www.witchvox.com/military/bb_mpn.html for the rest of the story. Though Barr claims to have given up on the republican party and now works for the ACLU, I will never trust the man.
Another issue dealing with Pagans in the military that has been going on forever it seems is the Headstone Issue. Seems like our wonderful government has refuse to honor Pagan war dead by not allowing and not paying for pentagrams on Pagan headstone markers. The government, however pays for more than 30 different religious symbols on headstones in National Cemeteries.
Hopefully with the ACLU involved we will get our long overdue recognition.

The only difference in the generations of Wolfdancers and those of the past or the present, is that they let it all hang out. It was in the open. People have been fornicating since the beginning of time. They also have been abusing drugs since the beginning of time. You can thank your government for supporting the drug trafficking, then, turning around and making criminals of their customers. Fucking grow up and do something for your own generation instead of blaming past generations. That is what is wrong with your generation. You do have a back bone, nor do you have a conscience or take responsibility for your actions. LOOOOOOOOL You have got to be fucking nuts to think that all that did nothing to effect the youth of today. It is you that are not taking responsibility especially since I clearly stated we would be cleaning up the mess you made and will do our best not to make the samemistaeks. You are as bad as the pollitical party hounds out there blinding yourself to the truth.

That is so lame. People choose the paths they walk. We all, in most instances, have been given the freedom of choice. Nobody forces anyone to put drugs in their veins, take that next drink, smoke that joint, or pop the pills. The reality is...this govenment does not devote enough funds to people with addictions or mental illness, hell, they are not even helping our veterans enough with their mental illnesses. They do love filling up their privately owned prisons with drug users. They are a profit to the U.S.

Proverbs, 31:6-7: "Give strong drink to him who is perishing, and wine to those in bitter distress; let them drink and forget their poverty, and remember their misery no more."

What are your solutions to the ever growing drub problem in the USA? By passing the buck? By not taking responsibility for your kids not being monitored and taught the dangers of drugs? Don't blame others if you cannot cope.

Anonymous said...

Allow me to rephrase

"I'll blame the past for wrecking the future when the mind altering shit they put in there mouths and the way they hid from there responsibilities by puting drugs in there vains gave way to future genrations of mentally ill people."

The past is the sex, drugs and rock and roll squad who I now call the rocker squad. The future should have said present. I get so mad at these assholes I can't think and considering the drugs I have to take to deal with my mental illness thanks to the past makes it hard for me to say things the way I wanna say them. We, my generation are the people being effected today and next comes the youth of today and possibly there children and on down the line. And go fuck yourself with the bible for all I care. God is not the answer. Those of us effected are going to have do it. Thanks alot! As if we don't have enuff to cope with allready! Now we have to find a way to stop the cycle and all of this when we have to suffer these problems you left us with at the same time. WE of my generation have a right to be angry at youre irresponsible acts.

Anonymous said...

I don't do drugs and my children don't do drugs either. Thye are't old enuogh to have sex yet dumbass.

Anonymous said...

When they do what are you going to do, blame the liberals?

"WE of my generation have a right to be angry at youre irresponsible acts."

What irresponsibile acts of others could make you abuse drugs yourself? I am not talking about prescription drugs for mental illness, I am talking about narcotics. If your mother or father abused drugs and you were affected by her/his use of them, that has nothing to do with the generation she grew up. Please tell me what the so called "rocker squad" did to you that directly affected you that you are now mentally ill? As I said before drugs have been part of history since 5-6000 BC.

I quoted a passage from the bible because that is an example of people in power putting people in their niches. I am an atheist.
For the person that thinks that everyone is at fault except them, well, if you do have kids, I do not think it is a good thing to blame past generations when a problem in your household arises. BIG BIG mistake.
