COATTAILS

NewOrleansSOTA: President Bush isn't running for office anymore, you think polls mean squat to him? LOL

I can't figure out whether these kinds of statements are straight ignorance or whistling past the graveyard. Probably a little bit of both. And political observer is well aware that the public perception of Bush is going to have serious deleterious effects on the reelection prospects of GOP congressmen and senators. Only a fool would try to pretend that Bush's job approval, now in free fall and marking the descent at 34%, has no effect on the prospects of his minions.

Hell, remember last year, the elections in Virginia, NJ, etc? Those GOP candidates lost close elections, and afterwards it was well understood that Bush's support and his toxic stain is what cost them victory.

Let's see if Mr. 34% can drag his team over the goal line in November. I think maybe more than a few candidates are hoping Bush stays the hell out of their district. Voters are angry, and anyone caught next to Bush is going to feel the burn.
