SWEET LITTLE LIES

Well, this is good news:

AP:
MACON, Ga. - President Bush's once-solid relationship with Southern women is on the rocks. "I think history will show him to be the worst president since Ulysses S. Grant," said Barbara Knight, a self-described Republican since birth and the mother of three. "He's been an embarrassment." In the heart of Dixie, comparisons to Grant, a symbol of the Union, is the worst sort of insult, especially from a Macon woman who voted for Bush in 2000 but turned away in 2004.
...
Now, anger over the
Iraq war and frustration with the country's direction have taken a toll on the president's popularity and stirred dissatisfaction with the Republican-held Congress.

Republicans on the ballot this November have reason to worry. A recent Associated Press-Ipsos poll found that three out of five Southern women surveyed said they planned to vote for a Democrat in the midterm elections. With control of the Senate and House in the balance, such a seismic shift could have dire consequences for the GOP.

Attila the Hen may be too far gone to save, but at least some people are figuring out just how dishonest and incompetent Bush and his cronies are. She's too busy trying to blame 9/11 on Bill Clinton to hold Bush responsible for his failings. These people are so hollowed out by the barrage of wingnut lies that they are celebrating the ABC disinfodrama "Path to 9/11", even knowing that it is contradicted not only by the official 9/11 commission report, but also by counterterrorism officials from both administrations. One fabricated scene about a CIA agent spotting Bin Ladin and not getting a kill order is exactly contrary to both the known RoE, and the assertions of CIA officials. Why do wingnuts feel the need to create fictions to comport with their biases? Is the truth so difficult to face?

The truth is that Bush didn't have a single meeting with his counterterrorism team until a few days before 9/11. (Clinton had CT meetings everyday) Bush also took no action after receiving the August 6 PDB which warned that Bin Ladin was planning imminent attacks, possibly including highjacking airplanes and attacking buildings. As his CT team panicked, Bush cleared brush on his ranchlet. Clinton stopped a liquid explosive attack in '95 and the millenium bomb plot. Bush read "The Pet Goat" while 3000 people died. Clinton put the masterminds of the '93 WTC bombing in federal prison. Bush veered off the course of catching Bin Ladin to attack Iraq, fabricating a threat that did not exist, and ignoring warnings, now confirmed, that the invasion would increase the danger of terrorism. Clinton fought for legal counterterrorism tools against Republican obstructionists, Bush violated the Bill of Rights and international treaties because of his disrespect for core American values...

Now that I think about it, perhaps it's better that Attila the Hen comforts herself with the cozy embrace of pure fantasy. She seems so peaceful and happy there. Who are we to wreck it for her?
