THEY'RE NOT GETTING ANY SMARTER

MJ-GA likes to cut loose with his homies...

Sometimes an idiot from one of the other sections decides to pop into a room briefly, paste a stupid comment, and rush out just as quickly. Tonight, it was MJ-GA:

MJ-GA: Dems now control both the house and senate...BUT we are still in Iraq...paying 4 bucks a gallon for gas..facing a recession...Thanks Dems

Gee, MJ, do you think the reason that no important legislation is getting passed is that Republicans have set a RECORD for the number of threatened filibusters, requiring 60 votes in the Senate for cloture? Do you have any idea at all what is actually going on in your government, or is the extent of the political knowledge you have anally inserted each day by Rush Limbaugh?

Of course you want to blame this on the Democrats, but even with very low congressional approval ratings, Dems are preferred to be in charge by a wide majority. Hell, close to 30 Republican House members are quitting, and several Republican Senators. Why don't we wait and see if we can get a 60 seat majority in the Senate in 2008? Then you'll have something to whine about.

EDITED TO ADD: I've been informed by isabellah-1 that MJ-GA is a woman, but I stand by that picture. Georgia girls are kinda hairy.

JC youre such a simpleton.Congress is at all time low approval ratings because as usual demonrats made promises they couldnt keep. They promised an end to the war in Iraq the impeachment of Bush and Cheney lower gas prices more transparency etc etc and delivered on NONE of those promises. You have proven you are unable to govern the country. Remember the old saying fool me once shame on you fool me twice shame on me. My favorite is you can fool some of the people some of the time but you can fool liberals all the time

CONGRESS' approval is low, but approval of Democrats is much higher than that of Republicans. As I amply explained in the post, Republican obstructionism is the reason why those issues are not being addressed.

Every week you hear again and again that the GOP has invoked the threat of a filibuster, necessitating a 60 vote margin to overcome. The fact that nothing is getting done is ENTIRELY on the shoulders of the GOP.

You seem like a reasonable amphibian with a functioning brain stem, how is it you cannot understand these simple concepts?

Gee, JC, do you think the reason that no important legislation is getting passed is that the Democrats are Unable to garner enough votes from their ***OWN*** Party? But of course you want to blame this on the Republicans.

***This has left many Democrats resorting to openly political arguments, picking up a theme that Republicans hurled at them -- obstructionism -- during their many years in the minority.***

JC, Do you have any idea at all what is actually going on in your Party, or is the extent of the political knowledge you have anally inserted each day by MoveOn.org?

Yeah yeah, Now whine that this was taken out of context.

Key Setbacks Dim Luster of Democrats' Year

***Unable to garner enough votes from their ***OWN*** party, House Democratic leaders had to turn to Republicans to win passage of a $555 billion domestic spending bill after the Senate appended $70 billion to it for the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan. The war funding passed 272 to 142, with Democrats voting 141 to 78 against it.***

***The Democratic leaders ***AGAIN*** had to appeal to Republicans to win passage of a measure to stave off the growth of the alternative minimum tax, because fiscally conservative "Blue Dog" Democrats were in open revolt and refused to go along. The Blue Dogs insisted that the Senate offset the bill's cost with tax increases on hedge-fund and private-equity managers. ***

WASHINGTON NEWS
Democratic Congress Recesses With A Whimper

http://www.usnews.com/usnews/politics/bulletin/bulletin_071220.htm

The Washington Post, for example, says "the first Democratic-led Congress in a dozen years limped out of Washington last night," because despite "a lengthy list of accomplishments," their "failure to address the central issues that swept them to power left even the most partisan of them dissatisfied and ***Congress mired at a historic low in public esteem.***"

America voted for change in 2006, and we got it! Thank you, the Democratic Majority.

Just the facts since the Democrats took over!

By the end of the 2007, a Congress controlled by Democrats for the first time since 1994 had an approval rating of only 25 percent, down from 40 percent last spring.

AMERICA ASKED FOR A CHANGE:
A little over one year ago:
1) Consumer confidence stood at a 2 1/2 year high;
2) Regular gasoline sold for $2.19 a gallon;
3) the unemployment rate was 4.5%.

Since voting in a Democrat Congress in 2006 we've seen:
1) Consumer confidence plummet;
2) The cost of regular gasoline soar to over $3 a gallon;
3) Unemployment is up to 5% (a 10% increase);
4) American households have seen $2.3 trillion in equity value evaporate (stock and mutual fund losses);
5) Americans have seen their home equity drop by $1.2 trillion dollars;
6) 1% of American homes are in foreclosure.

The most significant accomplishment by the
Democratic controlled Congress in 2007:
THEY VOTED TO INCREASE THEIR PAY !!!!

The fact remains that Republicans have set a record with the number of threatened filibusters in the Senate. All of the major proposals that the Democrats worked to pass were systematically blocked by Republican obstructionism.

You don't need to believe me, just look at polls on which party is more trusted to lead on the major issues of the day. From terrorism, to Iraq, to the economy and healthcare, a majority of Americans favor the Democratic party to solve these problems, and are set in 2008 to hand the GOP even more stunning defeats.

Why do you think close to 30 GOP Reps and several GOP Senators are retiring this year? They see the writing on the wall, they know that this next congress is only going to have stronger majorities for the Democrats, and they want no part of being relegated to insignificance.

With your presidential candidate unable to correctly identify which enemy is which in Iraq (he needed to be corrected 3 times by Joe Lieberman), how can you expect the American people to trust a man who is either so woefully ignorant that he doesn't know the Shiite Iranians are NOT in league with the Sunni Al Qaida, or too imminently senile to be able to recall?

You need to face facts here. Americans are disappointed in Congress, but it is because of Republican obstructionism that major policy proposals are being blocked. Do you really think an American public that literally handed you NO victories of ANY kind in 2006 is suddenly going to turn around and reward the obstructionism of the Republicans?

Let's be realistic here. The people are going to be hopeful about the new Democrats they just sent in to take over GOP held seats. Look at what happened to Denny Hastert's seat? It was in the HOMETOWN of Ronald Reagan, and it just went Dem.

I can't help but chuckle to think that you actually think that the American people are going to reverse themselves in 2 short years, after 12 years of failure by the GOP. This is going to be an historic realignment in power, and if McCain continues to go from "senior moment" to "rage filled hysteria", as he is wont to do, this election is going to be a cakewalk. See you at the finish line.

Why is it that a Real Clear Politics poll jumps around with McCain beating both Hillary and Obama if the Democrats are doing so well as Claus thinks?

Your bias is intimidating your ignornance Claus.
